Specialty Committees

Our undergraduate volunteers not only work within the clinical setting, but outside of it as well. We strive to provide the community of Knights Landing with access to as many resources as possible, not only healthcare! KLOHC currently consists of 7 committees alongside our Dental, Veterinary, and Health Education & Garden Committees.

KLOHC Specialty Committees

Women's Health

We are dedicated to establishing, expanding, and improving patient services for gynecology and reproductive health in our community. By breaking down barriers to essential medical care and creating spaces for open dialogue, we support and uplift community members through every stage of their wellness journey. Our committee works hard to organize free clinics, health drives, and supportive community events.

Health Education and Garden

Our focus is on providing our patients with general education about a variety of topics to encourage the development of healthy habits regarding a patient’s diet, exercise, and daily habits. Examples of projects in this committee include (but are not limited to) maintaining the Community Garden, organizing and executing cooking workshops and demonstrations, participating in health fairs, and other related events. We are also currently collaborating with the large KL project that will continue into next year, the Blood Glucose and Blood Pressure Project.

Hypertension and Case Management

We are dedicated to addressing the complete spectrum of a patient’s social and health needs. We aim to establish excellent rapport with patients, provide long-term support, and equip them with the tools and knowledge necessary to increase confidence in their own health. Through ongoing follow-ups and comprehensive patient review meetings, we ensure no one navigates their health journey alone. Our ultimate focus is to prioritize long-term patient empowerment and advocate for our community’s best interests.

Referrals

We ensure that our community’s healthcare journey doesn’t stop when they leave our clinic. We connect our community to specialized services our clinic cannot offer by partnering with other student-run clinics and external facilities. Our team works diligently to create a comfortable experience for our patients, managing the entire logistics pipeline from faxing paperwork to tracking outcomes. By collaborating closely with Case Management, we actively help more patients link with Medi-Cal services to ensure their specialized treatments are covered.

Resource Table

Our mission is to ensure our community has access to daily essentials. Every week, we distribute canned goods, pet food, fresh produce, and hygiene essentials directly in front of the Knights Landing One Health Clinic. We strive to listen to our community and adapt our services to provide the items families need and want most. Through local partnerships, we work to combat food insecurity and resource gaps right here in Knights Landing.

Finance

We work behind the scenes to ensure our programs always have the resources they need to thrive. Each quarter, we plan fundraisers and secure grants to raise money for general clinic needs and support our ongoing services. By connecting with local businesses, creating community initiatives, and pursuing funding opportunities, we build the financial foundation that keeps our resources accessible to everyone in Knights Landing.
